A marriage is put in jeopardy when the man’s first love returns to town.The fundamental problem with this year’s PÖLP is that there were so few screenings of classic films, far less than the amount planned for PÖLP 2023.I, as a viewer, am torn between a dominant number of new films by inexperienced directors who play with concepts and techniques, but whose fancy wrappers contain few eye-opening and refreshing pieces. The lack of classic, tried-and-tested films thus leads to a lack of spice for my nerves.Among the new films, however, Out of Control by mature director Le Ny stands out as a solidly established, gripping and emotionally complex sedative.
